DIRECTIONS TO USE AUTOCLAVE
-
Open the Steam Release Valve knob & rotate the lid anti-clockwise to open the Autoclave.
-
Now fill the water in the body till the upper level of the Inner Steel Tripod Stand.
-
Now place the loaded dressing drum (with ventilation holes opened) inside the autoclave on the Inner Tripod Stand. Take care that the inner stand does not touch the heating element.
-
Check that the rubber gasket is properly placed and in good condition.
-
Put the lid back on the body. ‘↑’ mark on the collar of the lid should be at centre of the right side handle of the body. Now press the lid a bit & rotate it in the clockwise direction until handles of the lid are exactly on top of body handles.
-
Tightly close the Steam Release Valve.
-
For Electric Autoclave – Place the autoclave on outer stand and connect the cord connector to element and 3-Pin Plug to Power Socket and switch ON.
For Non-Electric Autoclave – Place the autoclave on Gas/Stove Burner and ignite it. Use the outer stand as required. Keep the flames normal, not too high.
-
After few minutes the pressure inside the Autoclave will start rising.
-
When the pressure will reach approx. 15 psi, the Pressure Regulating Device (black weight) will start releasing the pressure slowly & steadily making a hissing sound. At this stage (when the needle of pressure gauge is in green zone) sterilization starts. The Pressure Regulating Device (black weight) controls the pressure within green zone.
-
Keep time at this stage and after 20-25 minutes switch off the power burner/heat source.
-
Now open the Steam Release Valve and make sure that the steam escapes completely from the autoclave. Don’t try to open the lid by force until then.
-
After atleast 10 minutes remove the lid of the autoclave and pull out the dressing drum. Close the ventilation holes of drum to preserve the sterilized material.
-
Make sure that the Autoclave is completely dry & then close it.
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
Please read the following instructions properly and follow them carefully for longer and better performance of your Autoclave.
-
Strictly follow the directions for use. This Autoclave is designed to be used for sterilization of surgical goods only and should not be used for other purposes.
-
Clean the autoclave with soapy water before first use. Clean your autoclave from inside and outside regularly. Never use ash, chemicals or any abrasives.
-
Avoid using hard water for sterilization as it reduces the performance & life of autoclave & increases energy consumption.
-
Never operate the autoclave without water or with insufficient water. It can damage the autoclave.
The safety devices fitted are designed to work on steam and thus will not protect the autoclave from damage in such case.
-
Clean the holes of both vent pipes regularly as per the instructions on next page.
-
Make sure that the rubber gasket is in good shape & condition. You can stretch it slightly for adjustment. Replace it as and when required (at least once a year).
-
Handle the Autoclave carefully & with soft hands. Rough and improper handling might result in problematic or even damaged Autoclave. When the lid is removed from the autoclave, keep it in the upright position on a levelled surface.
-
When the autoclave is non-operative, the pressure gauge should indicate 0 (zero) pressure.
-
Remember to maintain suitable free space around the autoclave. Keep under surveillance of an expert while the autoclave is operational.
-
Never leave water in the Autoclave after the sterilization cycle is finished or after cleaning. If water is left inside the autoclave, it might lead to pitting and can also damage it permanently.
-
During the sterilization cycle if the needle of pressure gauge enters red zone, or if the steam is released through Safety Valve or if steam leaks from anywhere, it indicates problem and danger. The power supply / heat source should be immediately shut down and instructions 5, 6 and 12 be followed accordingly.
12 In case of any problem, stop using the autoclave & contact Authorized Dealer.
Only Authorised Personnel should carry out servicing or repair works.
13. Always use Genuine Spare Parts only.
14. For Non-Electric Autoclave – Do not keep the burner flames too high as it might lead to bulging of bottom gradually.
For Electric Autoclave –
15. The 3-pin electrical plug comprises of 3 different pins –
• Pin marked ‘+’ or ‘L’ (red wire) should be connected to the Live phase (+)
• Pin marked ‘–’ or ‘N’ (black wire) should be connected to the Neutral (–)
• Top Pin marked ‘⏚’ or ‘E’ (green wire) should be connected to the Earth (⏚)
16. The electric autoclave is designed to work on 220/240 volts AC, 50 Hz electrical supply. Electrical voltage supply should be normal and stable.
17. Make sure that water does not enter inside the electrical components. To avoid burning of element connector and 3-Pin plug, check and tighten their screws & pins from time to time.
REMEMBER
• At the time of opening/closing the Lid of the Autoclave, you should always keep the Steam Release Valve opened. Never try to open the Lid forcefully.
• Regulating Device & Safety Valve (both weights) are pre-set at required pressures. Never add extra weight to them to increase their working pressure.
• Surrounding conditions might effect the time required for sterilization cycle.
